Jamie - THE UPDATE!!!

* taps paw impatiently while Mac chimes into action c'mon C'MON C'MON..... *

UPDATE

Jamie has a home! Jamie is going to be adopted by our very own @MizzBassie from Twitter.  Brian and the gang at Jamie's end are finalising things and we may be appealng for transport or financial assistance to his new home.  Full details here.

Guys, we need to spread the word about Jamie. He is in Greenville SC. Some misery dumped him at the door of the DOG SHELTER and they need help they are not geared to any cat of any size.  * takes deep breath...* Below is some of the basic info. in Jamie. Full text of Brian Frum's post is here.

Please, guys, his plight is desperate and we need this share FAR and WIDE - no more paw wringing and oh dear-ing we must ACT.  Here is what my dear pal Brian has to say about Jamie.

"Little Jamie is facing a true emergency.  This is a horrible environment for a kitty, but the only choice is quickly looking like a local shelter, which will more than likely euthanize him.
Jamie is the sweetest love muffin and adores being loved and petted.  Jamie is very easy going, adaptable, neutered, FIV & FELEUK Negative and up-to-date on all of his shots. Please, can you open your heart and home to Jamie?  We are running out of options.
If you can help, please contact me Brian at brianfrum (at) gmail (dot) come or Jenna Gutierrez at tomjeng (at) charter (dot) net or call Jenna at (864) 801-3177 "

'No-kill' shelters spring up to save lost pets | PoconoRecord.com

* TAP tap tap - checks notes - tap tap tap tap *

This article sheds light on the way society and its changes has affected how us cats are saved, sheltered or abandoned. It shows me that a small handful of sterling workers (like our friend FuzzyMice) fight against a rising tide of poor abandoned animals. It is both interesting to read and thought provoking. My anipal friends struggle sometimes - and this small handful fight back.

This is a tribute to them.

OK Pals, I have NEWS.

Daphne - Heartbreak for a longtime pet

* writes post with angrily trembling paw *

STOP PRESS - DAPHNE LIVES! See post above this one for MUCH BETTER NEWS *

Hi pals.  Sorry, but I can hardly write for fury and anger.  Why?  Because I came across this post via a friend. It's on Craigs List which is, I think, an American site for selling stuff.

All of a sudden Daphne is no longer wanted.  No longer loved. Why? Because her so-called parents have a baby and baby pulls at Daphnew so she defends herself as best she can. Some barbarian declawed (winces) poor Daphne and now she has been thrown out, abandoned - and hides in a shelter scard to death, upset and damned lonely because SUDDENLY she is NOT WANTED anymore.

Sorry, pals. I am very upset about this.  Alone, no family anymore, after 11 YEARS of being loved. I mean WTF??? Please - if you know anyone in Austin Texas, send them HERE.   We need to find this scared girl a loving LOVING home.

NOW.

PLEASE.

@TheNascarKitty Appeals For Our Help - Berlin Wisconsin

* tap tap tap CLICK  - tap tap tap *

OK pals I am sending out this message as part of the appeal from Tsitter pal Tiger Tommy aka @TheNascarKitty.  he's been a good pal to me so I am happy to pass this appeal on.

He says :-

Berlin, Wisconsin, Pugs and Doodles are 2 year old brother dogs. They are house dogs used to a lot of people and small children. Their human Mom has to leave quick...she is in an abusive marriage and is getting out of the house. She can't take her beloved dogs, but can''t bear to see them split up.

If somebody doesnt take them, they will end in the shelter with an uncertain future, because there is no other option for this lady, She has a 9 year old daughter and simply has to get away from the abuse.

Please let anybody you know who may beinterested in two great doggies know. Pictures will be available tomorrow.

Pugs is tall, perhaps the size of a smaller doberman, he appears to have some golden lab, maybe a little german shephard, in him. He's pretty active, would love to run and play and take walks, but also to snuggle on the couch.

Doodles is short with short legs, even though they are littermates, they are very different. Doodles is a little smaller than a Cocker Spaniel, but very solidly built. He's got some basset hound, golden lab, and it looks like a little Shar-Pei in him.

Neither is fixed, and they probably need updated shots, but the abusive spouse in this situation didn't leave much for the humans much less that pets. Luckily Mom always found a way to keep them well fed, and I'm sure they were a security blanket for her.

She is very worried about them being seperated, so please let's find them a forever home together!!

Contact me (@TheNascarKitty) on Twitter and/or @SaraBeth3394 for info.

Please send this email to anybody you can think of who's interested.

Christchurch Earthquake February 2011 - Anipal Appeal

* struggles to click on button while Mum cuts and pastes the Chip In on the blog ** CLICK **

O.K. anipals. I have taken the unusual step of adding a second chip in my blog, to accompany the longer term appeal form Tiny Timmy.  * picks up earthquake notes *

Update : @Baxter_man has checked in to the relief of his friends.  We await news on @Oslo_pup and his family.

You will have heard about the serious damage done by the earthquake today in Christchurch, on the South Island of New Zealand. Many people are hurt and animals too.  So, my hero D'Artagnan Rumblepurr has set up a fund raising Chip In to help the Canterbury SPCA who are nearest to the action on the ground down there. Mum and I are hosting the chip-in on our blogs <<<<<<<<< Look Left and would ask you to donate if you can.

Mum sold a pendant so was able to donate $20, which we are really happy about.  Rumblepurr's bloggy is here if you would like to read his short post about the quake.

Help Houdini - Urgent

* Turn on the mike Mum this is URGENT.  OK? Thanks... *

Pal Mewface and her Mum are in deep and desperate distress.  They need to help Houdini NOW!

Here's Mewface and Mum :-

Houdini belongs to a woman who is in Teen Challenge. My roommate's dog, the same one who got ahold of Mewface a few months ago, got hold of Houdini Thursday afternoon. Grabbed him right out of the doorway. Rest assured that I have taken measures to secure the cats and will be relocating as soon as a new place is found, and, rest assured that I will be holding the dog owner accountable for vet bills in the end. But, Houdini needs help right away and cannot wait for settlement

I am going to kick of donating with Mum's last $$$$ in Paypal.  Any amount will do!! Mum will also donate the proceeds of her next Etsy sale to Mewface and her Mom.

Winging Cat Rescue Pulls off a Miracle

* tap tap - shuffles paper and checks tabs on Firefox browser for info. *

Ladies and gentlemen, anipals and friends.  I wish to announce another miracle or two. Yep I am being lighthearted about this because otherwise Mum will cry all over again. * Pushes box of tissues closer to Mum *

First, we want to join the world in thanking those who rescued Los 33 from the perils of a Chilean mine  The world watched the BBC and held its breath for a long, long, time.  Their discovery and rescue is a tribute to the faith of many people.

Second.  A true and bona fide miracle, in Mum's eyes at least.  Some of you may have heard that Spaulding County Shelter was to close for much needed refurbishment (no a/c apparently, very basic conditions) and any anipal NOT pulled would be euthenazed .  There is a FB Page about how things stood before the miracle here.  Now, stay with me on this one.....

Tuesday evening Mum read about the cats still there, the dozens, and dozens, and dozens still not rescued from the shelter. She went to bed with a heavy heart, convinced that the long parade of cats over the Rainbow Bridge was about to get MUCH longer.

OK OK Cut to the chase.  Wednesday morning (New Zealand time) Mum came on line and spoke to @ChrisGroove1 a Twitter pal who said that Every single cat had been pulled from Spaulding.  EVERY LAST SINGLE ONE

Mum rushed over to the link Chris provided blinking in disbelief.  It was true.  Absolutely and totally  TRUE.  Winging Cat Rescue had pulled every last kitten and cat from the brink of death.  The whole bunch are now being cared for and rehomed by Winging Cats.  They will be fostered out over the next few months.

Now comes the part where you help the miracle to keep going.  Check the Chipin on the top right. See it....   That is for one particular fur family being helped BUT any contributions made through the chip in will help Winging Cats keep the all of the Spalding cats healthy and adoptable to their furever homes. Some kitties had sponsors others still do not but Winging Cats did NOT leave them behind to die.

Thanks for reading this far, Mum and I are grateful for the three miracles we had had this week.  Happiness and joy for these precious moments eh? * nosetaps *

NipClub and FuzzyMice News

* tap tap tap tap tap - c'MON Mum this is positive positive news *

OK anipals.  I have positive news - not great news but positive news.  First off, Mum made a sale on Etsy and was able to donate the proceeds to help Fuzzymice with her bill - thanks go to Mum's Twitter pal @Kismet_1990.  We think there must be nearly enough to pay it soon.  Don't forget if you have a dollar or two - chip-in is on the right.  (Just don't tell Dad we didn't keep the money eh?).

OK on to the important news.  I am told that the regular Twitter event #NipClub is going to help fund raise to assist for Fuzzy's re-homing expenses (or fostering expenses) for the kitties - our thanks go to @cheriswan for her help in arranging this.

As Michelle is worried about finding her kitties all homes so this is a really big deal for her - and I wanted to honour the #Nipclub with a blog post to thank them.  Details will appear at the #Nipclub link very soon.

To find out more about the kitties click 'the kitties ' here - you can bigyfy any kitty by clicking on it.  Fuzzy is in Bakersfield, CA, if you know anyone, or a no-kill shelter who can help  - please pass details along.  Michelle is not online 100% of the time as she works from a Blackberry so please - be patient with any queries you make.  Stress is taking it's toll on her - hang in there if you can help.

Thanks * nosetaps *

Fuzzy Mice - Eviction and Hope

* Ta[ tap - Ok time for an update - where's my notes - Tat tap *

OK Folks.  We are nearly there. Things are looking OK for the Chip In - some people already knew Fuzzy Mice paypal addy to gave via that so there IS actually more in the chip in - if that makes sense.

I am putting my paws together to pray that she find a good home for her kitties, for a home for herself, before she is evicted.  Can someone tell me, please, how anyone can let a girl on her own be homeless?  Bakersfield, CA isn't the easiest place to get a job - but Fuzzy has been helping animals - I scratch my nose sometimes and wonder.

Bakersfield CA., Can you help @FuzzyMice.

* Mum, turn this on NOW - this is U R G E N T *

OK anipals.  I will try to keep this brief - it is important and everyone can help by passing this on.

I have spoken before about @FuzzyMice the girl with Aspergers, running a small rescue, about to be evicted from her home. I have made this bullet point for easier reading.

Michelle needs to re-home 14 cats within the next approx. 3 weeks she has informed us.

  • Can you contact @FuzzyMice or myself about any no-kill rescue centres in CA who might be able to help, anyone she can approach.  I will pass on any suggestions I get.
  • Do you know any way we can help Michelle with her telephone - she is about to lose hers and it is her lifeline to the outside world and the internet. Donate if you can :- fuzzymice@vzw.blackberry.net
If you can help, let me know.

Rescue Animals ------------dfxxxxxxxxxxxxx

* Tap tap tap - anyone about... Just a short one today *

Just a moment to pause and say a prayer or healing thought for all anipals suffering at this moment.  All those abused animals who sick people video, all those small defenceless animals abused by wicked wicked wicked people, the abandoned and the lost, the cats in bins, the drowned puppies.

A moment also to salute the courage of those on the front line of animal rescue; people like our friend @FuzzyMice always short of funds, the hard working recipients of @FrugalDougals monthly #pawparties,  the SPCA big business but still at the sharp end, the Upper Hutt Animal Rescue - my local rescue shelter, and every other sanctuary, rescue, and frontline organisation or rescue working against the clock and around the clock -

One humble kitten cat salutes your total, complete and utterly admirable courage.

Neuter Your Pet

* Tap Tap - anyone out there?  Sometimes I wonder..... *

OK Anipals.  I'm writing because Mum is just too upset.  She is reading about the number of needless anipals who die, kittens, puppies, dogs, cats.  Every week, day in and day out.  Time after time.  It's becoming too much.....

Her Twitter pal @FuzzyMice works hard as a one-woman band to help anipals, so does mum's Facebook colleague Mandi Smith (AWBAR - Abandoned Wild Baby Animal Rescue).

Michelle of FuzzyMice runs her operation from a Blackberry A BLACKBERRY!!!  She fights to keep kittens alive and tweets via a handheld phone as she doesn't have a computer on the internet - running appeals and struggling to maintain her blog.

So, when your patience is tried by yet another appeal for funds from a small person, remember these are people on the front line, they can't turn away, turn off their computer and go home, and bear with them.

Mum's blogging colleague @PussDaddy has taught me and mum to be wary of online appeals from strangers and I agree 100% (looks to Mum for support) so always check the bonafides of anyone who appeals to you - that means check as far as you can who they are, any affiliations and/or personal references.

OK * nosetaps and catch you on Twitter  *

Anipal Awards This Week-end

* Tap Tap Attention Party Animals this is for you *

You may have heard talk on Twitter about the Anipal Academy Awards this week-end.  Parties, red carpets and dancing to be done by all of us.  Make sure you head over to the Anipal Awards blog here for all the details.

I would only add that you MUST get something from @JavaTheCat's Zazzle store to help the anipal's.

Why?  Well, Mum got her catwalk commuter mug and her Anipal Times mousemat and is SO impressed.  This is quality merchandise.  Mum loves her mug and the mousemat is a proper one that won't slip.  Actually the mousemat is mine as I edit for Anipal Times but we won't quibble MOL!!!

See you at the Awards!  * Nosetaps *
