Love Saves The Day - Gwen Cooper
Guys! Homer the Blind Cat's mom has a new book out 'Love Saves The Day'! Mum and I are reading it at the moment but we are keen to make sure you get your own copy as soon as you can. We want to thank Ryker and his blog for the heads up about the book coming out today.
First week sales for an author are vital to ensure a book's success. So far, mum and I can say that Ms Cooper has captured the nature of both cat, and human protagonists with a clear and honest eye - she is not overly sentiment but her writing has such depth that you cannot help but be moved by the characters.
Review to follow when I finish the book. By then I hope you have got your own copy. it is available at bookshops, from Amazon, and for the Kindle (which is how I got my copy).
See you guys.... * buries nose in book *

UPDATE on the Risk to Claudia's Home
* frantic typing at keyboard *
OK Guys I have an update on Claudia..............
She is one amazing lady and she is trying so hard, she loves her cats, loves her home and Has A Job. GOOD NEWS is she has been offered a full time job! BUT she still had to turn around some bills including one from the sewerage company that threatens a lien on her property before pay day. OK Read her update here and spread the word - please share and contribute.
Claudia has a job but they don't pay until you have worked some! She is doing so well, is nearly there - please read the chip in and help if you can. She needs to remove the risk of an expensive lien!!
OK some of you may know Claudia, I don't know her very well but @MrTibbsAP and a group of friends vouch for her bona fides which is good enough for me to I feel I must help. I grabbed a bit of the earlier history of the chip-in that says it all (see bottom of the post).
Claudia is blessed with having a roof over her head but not for much longer. Please, even $5 would help. Mum and I are donating now....
Believe me, Claudia is going FLAT OUT to find work, if you read the chip in you can see this. She is moving heaven and earth to get work, and she needs a break. If, like me, you want to donate the chip in is here.
Claudia speaks : I live in my childhood home with my 6 cats and I care for ferals. My garage is open to them 24/7. In a nutshell, lost mother in September (I was her full time caretaker and unemployed). Found low paying retail job over the holidays. Laid off in January. Found another low wage job as cashier at a grocery store and was helping elderly aunt in her home.........
Help me to help Claudia. her luck WILL improve, she needs our help to keep going until that blessed time.

Pet Treat Shopping for Seniors with Dash Kitten
* checks notes and cuts and pastes links into blog post *
Guys, I will focus, this week, on some senior items for the older cat and dog. Things to make their lives a bit easier.
My aunty Peanut is a senior, she is nearly 15 and still the boss, altho' she does have some mobility issues, such as jumping on the bed. She can't now so mum has a set of steps. Steps are not cheap but the ones I found are stylish, look like furniture and you would be happy to have them near your bed without going >> ugh<<. There is also a raised food bowl that you will like.....
Dogs often curl up at the bottom of the bed, they are close, they love being there and it's 'home'. If that's taken away it's tough on you and them. So a dog ramp is worth considering. A full selection of dog ramps and stairs is here. Oh, and there are also orthopaedic beds for that bit of extra comfort for your senior dog. too.
Cat stairs for the senior cat are often not so large, but as much care goes into their construction and they are just as useful. There are bed ramps and sofa ramps or steps (see below) to allow your kitty to cuddle up with Mum and Dad just like they did as a kitten, or make up for lost time if they are a rescue!
Finally, getting your fur friend up onto a bed is only one issue but an important one. Another thing you might not thing about is feeding. Older animals don't appreciate having to bow down quite so far for their food and this bowl is a great option for cats and smaller dogs. Dont forget to give some treats too here and here.

Loews Hotels - Cat Killers?!
* runs to computer and drums paws at it warms up Come on.. COME ON!!!! *
UPDATE : at the bottom on the page is a list of the emails of Loews executives who can be contacted to express your dismay at the current situation. Mum has email and been respectful but expressing her concern. You might wish to do the same.
Guys, this is SO important I can't tell you. I read this from Alley Cat Allies - who you know are reputable and not given to hysterical outbursts :-
Yesterday, "pet-friendly" hotel Loews Portofino Bay in Orlando announced that 23 cats living in a model TNR colony on the property will be "relocated" to a local animal shelter. The hotel failed to mention that just like all feral cats entering shelters, these cats will likely be killed unless other arrangements can be found for them.
Relocated to an animal shelter. EXCUSE ME. We all know what these 'animal shelters' do - right? They KILL CATS. Please, everyone, head over to Alley Cat Allies and add your email to those already heading to the CEO if this company. Catster has a huge list of contact details you can use here. Don't get mad Get Even - and help us gain justice for the feral colonies all over the US that this small colony represents. Link is HERE. If you are on Facebook the Help Loews Cats page is here they need much more support.

Edgar Goes to the Cinema and Chills in the Garden.
* Looks up from Warriors book, Oh Hi guys....*
Edgar and I have been busy reading the latest of Mum's Warriors books. She is working her way through the various series bit by bit. Edgar did a bit of reading in the sun.
As the sun hit the garden Edgar took in the sun on our garden chair which is usually my sisfur Dot's patch but she let Edgar have a nice sit down for a while!
Mum did a bit of gardening before our visit to the cinema and Jack the Ginger boy helped her and Edgar with the spouts and silverbeet. Jack's nose is looking much better now he takes Supress to keep the Solar Eczema at bay. Mum finished her work and the family and Edgar set off for the cinema.
Before we entered the Lighthouse Cinema, Edgar took a chance to have his picture taken beside an un-pronouncable nature reserve. Yes, its pretty, no he can't say it MOL! (Mum can do it but she practised!)
The Lighthouse Cinema, Pauatahanui is a lovely place with sofa type seating rather than cinema seats in rows. The cinemas are reasonably sized and you can enjoy a fantastic "big screen experience", they even have 3D films here! Edgar is getting ready to look at the food counter, always good here, before spending a bit of time looking out of the window at the reserve.
Edgar joined mum in watching 'The Descendants' a film with George Clooney. Good looking or not, we agreed he gives a fine and thoughtful performance in the film, we loved seeing a glimpse of the real Hawaii too - it reminded mum of a warmer and slightly more upmarket seaside town in England......
After the film, we came home and the weather was so good we sat out with our little shelter, it's more a windbreak than a proper tent but left us the warmth without any breeze. Sienna the tortie and Dot kitten both decided to chill out with Edgar for a while before we all moved to the grass.

'No-kill' shelters spring up to save lost pets | PoconoRecord.com
* TAP tap tap - checks notes - tap tap tap tap *
This article sheds light on the way society and its changes has affected how us cats are saved, sheltered or abandoned. It shows me that a small handful of sterling workers (like our friend FuzzyMice) fight against a rising tide of poor abandoned animals. It is both interesting to read and thought provoking. My anipal friends struggle sometimes - and this small handful fight back.
This is a tribute to them.
